White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is holding a briefing on Friday — a day after announcing that President Biden would meet with Brittney Griner’s wife and Paul Whelan’s sister as U.S.-Russia prisoner swap talks continue. “As we have said before, we believe that Russia is wrongfully detaining Brittney and Paul under intolerable circumstances. And, as you know, we have been directly engaged with the Russian government through appropriate channels,” Jean-Pierre said on Thursday.
